Yes, We made several friends, and I am sure you all did as well. World congress was a phenomenal success by any measure. The talks were of highest caliber given the resources the individual investigators have to work with. I gained immense respect for the world-class work you all do, and quite happy to learn that Pharmaceutical Sciences is now at its best, and is in 'able' hands. You are all now the 'good will' ambassadors to carry on the mantle of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
It's quite difficult to pull together an international audience such as the world congress participants, and develop a thematic conference at such a high level. There were a number of folks who worked very, very hard, both on the scene as well as behind the scenes. The hard work and the superb organizational skills of Dr. Sirimal Premakumara and Dr.Radika Samarasekarewere evident every step of the way. The staff of ITI worked very hard to ensure that 'Srilankan' hospitality was at its best, with their exemplary support and heartwarming smiles.
My thanks to the dignitaries including His Excellency YASHVARDHAN KUMAR SINHA High Commissioner of India, Colombo, Sri Lanka for sending his special representative Mr. Kartik Pande, First Secretary (E&C), HCI, Colombo and to Mr. Madhawa Waidyaratna, additional Secretary, participating in the World Congress and delivering message from Hon. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation and grateful thanks for making it possible for me and my staff from UMK to attend the prestigious congress which was hosted successfully. As for me, the highlight of the two and a half day event was the conferment of the award of Lifetime Achievement during the opening ceremony and for this I extend my heartfelt gratitude.
The hospitality you extended to us during our stay in Sri Lanka was exemplary and particularly when arranging a special meeting over dinner with His Excellency The Vice Chancellor of University of Colombo which to me is a rare honour. The leg work you put enabling us to visit the Institute of Agrotechnology and Rural Sciences in Hambantota was specially poignant as we were given first hand information on the activities of the Institute beginning from the lab to what is practiced in the farmers' fields. We believe we could adopt and have a similar set up one in our own Campus here in Jeli. All in all it was a memorable trip and a big thank you goes to you.
